On May 25th, I picked up the young Red-shouldered Hawk after it ended up on the roof of a house and then fell into the bushes. (Read that story here!). It had some minor injuries and there was some concern about feather growth. Since then, we have been caring for it at Lake Erie Nature and Science Center. The feathers are coming in nicely and the bird was banded on 06/02/2019.
We built a nest using a laundry basket filled with some sticks and leaves and attached it high in the tree with some bungee cords. We are hoping that the parents will return to our new nest and continue to feed the youngster!
